Top Ten Tuesday is an original meme at The Broke and the Bookish.
Books I'd play hooky with huh? This post took some time for me to think about. If I was to take a day off of Motherhood--and get some peace and quiet--I'd most definitely be taking a book with me. I have actually called off work on release day's before. Yep. I can't imagine better use of my holiday's! This list is made up of books I've been wanting to read but haven't got around to it, and books that when they do come out I'll be stopping everything to read. I'll be playing hooky as a Mom. No dinner made, no house clean, and no play dates. Reading time only! What books would you play hooky with?
North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
Beyonder's by Brandon Mull
Little Dorrit by Charles DIckens
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally
Losing Lila by Sarah Alderson
Destined by Aprilynne Pike
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
I have still yet to read any Cassandra Clare- really feel I need to! Great list x
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I loved Shatter Me and The Help!

@Pocketful of books You need to read Cassandra Clare! Seriously! I only started reading her this past yr, and I red every single one of her books in a week. I was ravenous! They didn't satisfy me, but make me more hungry for more! I gorged myself on her writing. It felt like such a treat. You'll love them!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love North and South, and it was such a fab TV adaptation too! The BBC one with Richard Armitage playing Mr Thornton :-)
ReplyDeleteCity of Lost Souls will be great to get my hands on but I'm far more into the Clockwork Angel series now, and also have Clockwork Princess on My TTT :-)
I've only read The Help on this list but the others are on my TBR pile! Good choices! Here is my Top Ten
ReplyDeleteHi there, just popping in... I love The Help, great choice.
ReplyDeleteI’m also your newest follower!
:) Here is my choice...
Top Ten Tuesday
@Katja I love Infernal Devices way more than Mortal Instruments! I'm such a fan of the time period! After Clockwork Prince I have no idea whom I like more. Will or Jem?!
ReplyDeleteRichard Armitage was amazing in North & South! That love story rocks my world! SOOO good!!
@Alyssa & Bookslave I've not read TheHelp yet, but I know I'll love it. It seems like a good read while on the hammock in summer time! I really liked the movie and had to call my Mom when it was finished and talk to her about the time period. Fab!
I loved North & South and Shatter Me. I too need to read The Help...a holiday would be perfect for that. Great choices!

I loved North and South! I can't believe I forgot that on my list...
ReplyDeleteI think this list also confirms that I need to pick up copies of Shatter Me and The Help.
Yay, North and South love! Okay, so I haven't read the book, and I desperately need to, but of course I love love love the min-series. The Help was an absolutely amazing audiobook, I found myself finding all sorts of things to do so I could listen to it beyond just driving.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm one of the few peeps that hasn't read Cassandra Clare's series yet. They sound really good though. Great list.
ReplyDeleteStealing Parker! I can't wait for that one. And Shatter Me and any and all Cassandra Clare is worthy playing hooky. Love the list!
ReplyDeleteI really need to read City of Lost Souls and Shatter Me- both look so good. I've been meaning to read Shatter Me for ages, I need to get round to that...
ReplyDeleteOoh, great choices! Little Dorrit is hanging out on my TBR list as well - another BBC adaptation I loved! And The Help as well, I need to get to that one soon. Everyone seems to love it. And I've never read Cassandra Clare but I've heard marvelous things!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! Thanks for stopping by my post and commenting! Enjoy your weekend!
